How much does it cost for a tradesperson to develop their own app?

Jan 27, 2024

It may be less than you imagine. It really depends on the customisation required.

When it comes to making an app, there isn’t a standard price or a ‘one price suits all’ solution - this is because all app developments have a different price range when creating separate apps.

Is it a standard template app or a bespoke build? Is it at Progressive Web App (PWA, a website within an app) or a native app (similar to what you see on the Apple or Android stores)? Is it compatible with apple/android users or just one device? Is the app going to have e-commerce? There are so many different factors to an app which can lead to different quotes.

These multiple factors determine whether you spend £1,000 or £100,000 on an app, but don’t let the large amount worry you, this is usually for more complex apps for larger companies. A simple app can and will cost less.

How do App developers calculate the cost of an app? Firstly, we have to take into consideration how long it will take for them to develop your ideas, the more features mean the longer it takes and the more it would cost.

This can all depend on your goals for your app and the budget. If your budget is high, this can result in you receiving a very complex and in-depth app. However, sometimes a high budget isn’t realistic and we understand this, we recommend starting at the £1,000-£2,000 range and then adding more features at a later date.

Most app development agencies provide you with an app estimator to allow you to fill out all the information and get a quote. This is something which we do at Digital Installer and highly recommend, as its budget-friendly and tailored to all the features you desire.
